The first time I ate at Spirale I was pretty new at food blogging. Meaning I forgot to take photos before diving in to vanguish the dish. That first experience was very pleasant to the palate, so much so that Spirale has become a regular option for our Sunday lunches. I have also, since, taken a lot of my guests for dinner there because it’s quiet.
On our third visit to Spirale, I was finally able to take some much needed shots. I also had my new camera on hand, a Panasonic Lumix ZR1 I bought during my recent trip to Hong Kong. Testing the cam’s food mode, I eagerly clicked away, oblivious of the stares I was getting from the restaurant personnel.The images posted below have not been retouched in any way. I guess all the reviews about Panasonic’s Lumix series are quite accurate.
What we have below is their Gambas Al Ajillo (P215) which we always order two servings of because one is not enough even when sis and I usually just share our appetizers.

Spirale’s house salad, the Insalata della Casa (P250) consisted of leafy greens, goat cheese, mango cubes and balsamic dressing. Serving is modest but enough for two.

For our entree, we opted for Spirale’s Chicken Pyrenees P250), half a chichen roasted in herbs and served with a mound of mashed potato tucked underneath. I actually found this tasting so-so, also thought it weirdly wet.

Spirale : Ambiance was good and so was the service, food was excellent but prices were on the stiff side for rather small portions. Al fresco dining would have been nice but woe to the wooden (sans back support) chairs, not meant for long, drawn out dinners. Highlight: Hands down, the gambas.
